Pre gig
June 7, 2008
I am writing up this blog whilst waiting in the hotel foyer for a gig. All the band are assembled and chomping at the bit (apart from Andy who is having a little sleep). Nice venue and we are hoping it goes well. We are starting to add a few more songs in at the minute to the set to keep things fresh. We have a busy few weeks for us. What is annoying is venues where someone takes a personal dislike for some bizarre and unknown reason and makes it difficult for us to play a venue. Even though we were maybe good enough to play at the venue on probably their most important night of the year. I thought people on committees did things for the members of their club not because they personally do not think a lot of us! Anyhoo i guess there will always be people out there like that we will just get on with enjoying what we do.
Before i go can anyone help us difine the difference between a blip and a mini blip.... anyone ??

Busy Busy
April 16, 2008
When we set up the band, we all said that one gig per month would be nice.....So how come this is our second gig this weekend...and how come everyone vanishes when the van's to be loaded. The mysteries of life on the road and 2.00am Big Mac's.
So we've had a gig at one of the Peterborough United Supporters Clubs, where a couple of the old squad players joined us on stage for a song...great stuff and a good laugh for all those who purchased the tickets. Many thanks to the organisers who invited us to play, but please keep us away from the changing room. Our Lead singer just cannot restrain himself when he is in the same room as the 'dressing-up-box'......although judging by the photographs, a nice trim may be in order....lol.
Its mainly private party time, although we did manage to fit in another visit to one of our favourite places, Eb's in Peterborough, where all the crowd were up for it as usual, fantastic atmostphere, dancing to the classics all night.
As I've said before, those boys and girls really like to have a good night out.
We also re-introduced someone to the art of drumming (if...

Howdy Y'all
January 28, 2008
After many months of wilderness i have updated the website. Just a quick mention about the new years eve gig which was awesome. Even though we had a speaker blow during the sound check (thanks to the guy who was able to replace it and to Pat who was also ready to come to our aid). Four sets was hard work but it worked. It was good to see the room so busy and standing room only by 7:30pm speaks for itself.
This years gig list includes more private gigs than before (sorry big Dave) I think this is more to do with a slight downturn in busness for pubs/clubs because of the smoking ban. It was sad to hear ebz could be knocked down to make way for housing but I cannot blame the boss for doing it.
Anyway band news. It was good to see that Martin has finally come out, Andy has turned into a buddhist, Mark won a gurning competition by sneezing and I am now friends with both sir alex of ferguson and a wide range of verticaly challenged people (I do not include Mark in that - just).
Anyway we shall start rehearsing soon...

A Wee Cough
November 2, 2007
So, after a busy couple of weeks, we all get a well deserved rest....or at least a change of jobs.
The gig at Eb's was great fun, as usual. Some of those guys (and ladies) know how to have a good time on a Saturday night, and we hope the 'hen's' recovered in time for the wedding. All the best for her big day, from all the Band. We were asked to come back again in 2008, so we are hoping all the 'Blues Brothers' hats and glasses from our quickly arranged backing singers will make a note to come and support us again next year.
Remember though, under no circumstances, will anyone be allowed on stage to sing with us, by order of the management.
Last weekend, a private party, found us playing in a fantastic venue near Cambridge, typical olde world college, high ceilings, oak doors etc. Imagine Harry Potter and its very close. Dance floor full all night with the guests, many in their 60's fancy dress, dancing all night, great fun.
As for me, with the responsibility of being the current band 'shuffleboard' Champion, the current band's 'fancy dress is better than the drummer who looks like...

Well Then
October 16, 2007
At the weekend Andy held a 60s & 70s party. My costume was particularly good out of all the bands even though people kept calling me "Bob The Builder" - numpties. Anyway nobody got too far in the conker tournament. We are having a rehearsal tomorrow night ready for the next 2 weekends. We shall give the blues brothers a bash at ebz on Sautrday i think ( Some of the older more senile members of the band think we have done it there before but i know we havent) It should be fun

Diary of a Rock God (In The Making) - Excerpt.
October 4, 2007
,so I said "I Thought that was where she kept her tape recorder and she was just doing a bit of boot-legging!"
Complete Strangers often come up to me in the street and say "it must be great being in a band!" I then have to put on my sincere face and tell them "It would be if I didn't still have to go to work".
So there I was at work today (04/10/07) and one of my co-workers (I Still keep in touch with the masses) called over to me that she had seen my picture in last nights Evening Telegraph. I was sure that I had managed to avoid the paparazzi and the court case won't be for a couple of months yet, so I was intrigued. They passed me the paper and I was pleased to see that it was the photo taken at the Ivy Leaf gig for John's birthday, It was Big Dave & Marcina handing over a cheque for over £1,600 to Cancer Research and the band (The important members anyway) managed to squeeze into the photo without anyone noticing. If you look closely, you will see that my hair(yes, I have some!) is slighly uneven,as I was getting it cut in the...

What a busy weekend
September 16, 2007
Wow how busy. Johns party on Friday was ace. I really enjoyed playing but was shattered at the end of it. Our gig down the embankment was good to. It is always nice to play to new people. We all met the bloke from Hollyoaks (Leon someone ??) He seemed ok although he was worried about not remembering his words before he went on
) I am going to have a few big sleeps this week. I have passed on details of how to blog to some of the others and i am hoping they get their backsides in gear and do one.

First Blog
September 10, 2007
Oh how exciting a band blog. I thought this could be useful for band members to share stories of gigs or what musical musings they are having. Previous stories on here could have included Mark's missing shoes, Martin's Towelling Mate, Andy's "is it offensive to get down on my knees to Johnny b good when playing to a person who is "vertically challenged" or the lady who loved us so much she just wanted to take her enjoyment to another level during our second set!"
In reality we shall probably forget to update it but lets give it a go. " gigs this weekend for us. Johns parrty on Friday which we are all looking forward to as he is a great supporter of the band and the embankment gig on Sunday. I have no idea what Sunday will be like. Come along and see for yourself as we are on at 5pm.
BTW there are no spelling mistakes on this blog only typing oversights
